Please reach me at christine@weddingseamstress.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.
It is very difficult to plan a wedding when you don't know how much things are going to cost.
Most of you are doing this for the first time. What is considered expensive to one person, is not necessarily expensive to another. For that reason, if I haven't seen your dress on your body, I would tell you to budget $750-$1000.
On MOST gowns that will get you a bodice adjustment, straps shortened, bra cups added, all layers of the skirt hemmed and a bustle.
Are all wedding dresses created equal? No.
Could your bill be more than $1000? Sure.
Do the majority of my invoices fall between that $750-$1000 mark? Yes.
Once I see you for your first fitting, I'll be able to tell you EXACTLY how much your bill will be before I begin any work. If you have any questions, just ask!
The day you buy your dress is the day you call me.
If we book you in for your first fitting when your dress first arrives, we'll be able to determine the scope of work and cost for alterations. We can book follow up appointments for closer to the wedding day to ensure the body I'm fitting will be the body walking down the aisle!
What if your weight changes?
I still recommend booking in a first fitting as soon as possible so that all the adjustments can be assessed in plenty of time. However, certain areas of work can be held off until nearer your wedding day.
Yes! There are many design changes that can be made to compliment your gown.
- adding buttons and embellishments, including beading and lace
- making or removing sleeves
- swapping the zipper for a corset back
- changing the neckline style or skirt shape
- removing or adding layers and restyling the train
Drop me a message if you have a question about a certain style change, I’m happy to chat anytime.
I offer 1hr bridal consultation appointments for $50. (Fee will be deducted from your total bill if we decide to work together). This is a great idea if you would like a costing and a recommended schedule for fittings, or you are simply unsure of the adjustments that are needed on your dress.
